Our Commitment

Smart Academy UK is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Standards We Follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

What We're Doing

  • Using semantic HTML for proper document structure and screen reader compatibility.
  • Providing sufficient colour contrast throughout the platform.
  • Ensuring all interactive elements are keyboard accessible.
  • Including descriptive alt text for images and visual content.
  • Using clear, readable fonts with appropriate sizing.
  • Providing visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation.
  • Ensuring forms have proper labels and error messages.
  • Making video content accessible where possible.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Some older course videos may not yet have captions or transcripts.
  • Some third-party content (e.g., payment pages) may have their own accessibility considerations.
  • PDF documents attached to courses may not be fully screen-reader optimised.

We are actively working to address these limitations.

Assistive Technologies

Our platform is designed to be compatible with:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation
